Location Burns Harbor INCleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for an Associate Quality Engineer at our Burns Harbor operation. The Associate Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the daily quality activities including inspection testing ensuring quality system compliance reduction of wastenon-conforming material and metallurgical product improvement to make the highest quality steel. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with complex operations.Summary of ResponsibilitiesProvide metallurgical and technical support for product and process improvement through data analysis problem solving expertise in area of responsibility metallurgical and mechanical concepts and knowledge of customer operations and marketsAssists in providing technical support for internal and external customer issuesAids field sales personnel in the resolution of any major quality issues and all other dutiesresponsibilities as may be requiredAssists in development of corrective actionsReviews mills quality performance and assists in continuous improvement activitiesComply with safety quality and environmental standardsWork closely with operations engineering maintenance and other technical resources on improvement of quality metricsPossess the ability to work effectively within a team environment utilizing clear and effective communication skillsOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering Material Science or Chemical Engineering.Working knowledge of metallurgical principles.Good verbal and written communication skillsFamiliar with the Microsoft Office programs Word Excel PowerPoint and AccessInterpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively within a team-oriented fast-paced environmentApplicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisPreferred QualificationsOne internship at steel facility industrial or related environment.Demonstrated success in defining and resolving problems.Strong analytical skills.Relocationassistance may be considered for highly qualified candidates from outside the local area.Cleveland-Cliffs is a leading North America-based steel producer with focus on value-added sheet products particularly for the automotive industry.
