Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Project Manager to support the successful planning, coordination, and execution of fire alarm, life safety, and security system projects in Brooklyn, NY. This vibrant borough of New York City offers a dynamic environment rich in culture and opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a background in fire alarm or life safety project management and the ability to coordinate field teams, subcontractors, vendors, customers, contractors, architects, and other stakeholders. This position requires strong organizational, communication, budgeting, and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of fire alarm systems and applicable codes.

Required Education & Experience

  • Associate degree and at least 2 years of relevant project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire alarm, life safety, or related project management.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project plans, including scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, resources, deliverables, and overall execution.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, field personnel, subcontractors, customers, contractors, architects, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in project reviews, site visits, pre-tests, commissioning activities, and required inspections.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and provide clear communication regarding project changes, progress, risks, and solutions.
  • Manage small- to medium-sized design-build, fire alarm, life safety, and security installation projects.
  • Assist with project budgeting and subcontractor coordination.
  • Provide field supervision and support to ensure projects remain on schedule and meet quality standards.
  • Support the Sales team with site walkthroughs, project takeoffs, and development of accurate project pricing.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address issues that could affect schedule, budget, quality, or customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with project budgeting and financial tracking.

  • Knowledge of fire alarm and life safety systems.
  • Understanding of basic electrical theory.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of applicable NYC, NFPA, ADA, and building codes.
  • Experience with EST products is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Self-directed with strong initiative and accountability.
  • Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
