About the Position  

Responsible to support the Company's project audit function through audit preparation, project analysis, and audit execution activities, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations. Working under the direction of the Project Audit Manager and/or Director of Project Audits, this position gathers, analyzes, and evaluates project financial, operational, and compliance information to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement, and performs detailed reviews of project controls, documentation, financial performance, and operational practices while developing preliminary audit observations for review by audit leadership .  

 Day in the Life  

  • Assists in planning and preparing project audits by gathering project financial, operational, contractual, and compliance documentation.
  • Performs detailed reviews of project budgets, forecasts, labor productivity, cost reports, billing records, procurement activities, and project performance metrics.
  • Analyzes job costing information, Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, forecast accuracy, revenue recognition, and margin trends to identify potential risks and exceptions.
  • Reviews project documentation including contracts, change orders, time-and-material work authorizations, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and supporting financial records.
  • identifies potential audit findings, control deficiencies, compliance concerns, project risks, and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Prepares audit workpapers, analyses, schedules, and supporting documentation in accordance with Project Audit Group standards.
  • Develops preliminary audit observations and summarizes key risks and findings for review by the Project Audit Manager and Director of Project Audits.
  • Assists in evaluating compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Participates in project site visits, field reviews, project retrospectives, and stakeholder interviews as part of audit activities.
  • Collaborates with project teams, operations leadership, finance, safety, and other stakeholders to obtain information and validate audit observations.
  • Tracks audit findings, corrective action plans, and remediation efforts to support timely resolution.
  •  Assists with the development and maintenance of audit reporting tools, dashboards, risk indicators, and performance metrics.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring trends and recommending enhancements to project controls and business processes.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in construction operations, project controls, project engineering, project accounting, finance, auditing, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of construction project lifecycles, project controls, job costing, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and develop meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization.
  •  Experience with ERP systems, project management software, and reporting platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction practices and industry standards is preferred.
  • Ability to travel periodically to project locations as needed.
