The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy in the College of Business at The University of Akron invites applications for a full-time,tenure-track appointment inAccountingat the rank of Assistant Professoror Associate Professor, starting in August 2027. Both the School of Accountancy and the College of Business are accredited byAACSB-International.
Our greatest teaching needsare intaxation. The tenured/tenure track teaching facultygenerally havea full range of responsibilities, including teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, research, scholarship, and service to the department, theuniversityand the public.Applicants must be able todemonstratea balanced commitment to excellence in teaching, quality research, and service.Effective teaching, scholarly productivity, and service to the university and the profession arefor retention, promotion, and tenure.
Required Qualifications
PhD/DBA or equivalent in accounting or a related area from an AACSB accredited institution, SJD/JSDin taxation from an ABA accredited institution, J.D. (or equivalent) /MTaxfrom an ABA accredited institution, or a PhD/DBA in a related area with professionalcertification in accounting. DBA applicants mayconsideredbut all degree requirements must be completed by August 23, 2027.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferencealso willbe given to candidates who are professionally certified (e.g., CPA, CIA, CMA),and have professional experience intax consulting,publicaccountingor relevant industry experience.Additionally, candidates with AI skills, which could include the ability to incorporate AI and information technology tools into teaching and curriculum development, are a plus.

Compensation
The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
