Associate Plant Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking an
Associate Plant Manager to support the overall management and day-to-day operations of an industrial, mining, aggregate, or manufacturing facility. This position will work closely with the Plant Manager and operations leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational skills who is looking to grow into a Plant Manager role. This position will have responsibility for production, employees, equipment, safety, maintenance, and continuous improvement while gaining broader experience in facility management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Plant Manager in overseeing daily plant operations and production activities.
- Assist with managing production, maintenance, equipment, material handling, and other operational functions.
- Help ensure production goals, quality standards, and cost objectives are consistently achieved.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate and supervise employees across one or multiple shifts.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and direction to production and operations personnel.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
- Assist with scheduling, staffing, production planning, and operational priorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and operating costs.
- Assist with environmental compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Work with contractors, vendors, and other outside service providers as needed.
- Maintain accurate operational records and communicate production and performance information to management.
- Help implement continuous improvement initiatives and standard operating procedures.
- Step in for the Plant Manager when needed and assume increasing operational responsibility over time.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in plant operations, manufacturing, mining, aggregate, industrial production, or a related environment.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of industrial production processes, equipment, and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of workplace safety requirements and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to lead and motivate employees in a hands-on operational environment.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and support multiple shifts as needed.
- Demonstrated interest in developing toward a Plant Manager or senior operations leadership position.
