    Position Summary

    The Associate Performance Librarian supports the daily operations of the Performance Library by ensuring students, faculty, and guest artists have timely access to music materials required for rehearsals, performances, and instruction. This role assists with the preparation, organization, maintenance, and distribution of music scores and performance materials while providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced performing arts environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare, organize, and distribute music scores and performance parts for rehearsals, concerts, and special performances.

    • Assist with cataloging, filing, shelving, and maintaining the Performance Library's physical and digital collections.

    • Process the check-in and check-out of library materials and maintain accurate inventory records.

    • Coordinate the preparation, marking, copying (when permitted), and assembly of performance materials.

    • Monitor music inventory and assist with ordering replacement or additional materials as needed.

    • Support faculty, conductors, students, and guest artists by locating and providing requested performance resources.

    • Ensure all library materials are maintained according to copyright laws and licensing agreements.

    • Assist in organizing library archives and preserving historical performance materials.

    • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient library workspace.

    • Collaborate with other campus departments to support concerts, productions, festivals, and special events.

    • Assist with seasonal projects, inventory audits, and other administrative duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Music, Library Science, Music Education, Arts Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

    • Familiarity with orchestral, choral, or band music literature and printed music.

    • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications.

    • Ability to lift and move library materials weighing up to 30 pounds.

    Preferred

    • Previous experience working in a music or performance library.

    • Experience with integrated library systems or music cataloging software.

    • Knowledge of music notation software such as Finale, Sibelius, or Dorico.

    • Understanding of music copyright and licensing practices.
