Job Summary
The Associate supports the Corporate Banking team through credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, and client service activities. This position works closely with lenders, clients, and Credit Administration to evaluate lending opportunities, monitor portfolio performance, and assist with the credit approval process.
The Associate will analyze financial information, prepare credit presentations and underwriting packages, monitor borrower performance, and participate in client interactions. This role is expected to develop a strong understanding of corporate lending structures, credit risk management, and relationship banking while supporting team members in delivering exceptional client service.
Essential Functions

- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, projections, and other financial information to assess credit quality and repayment ability.
- Perform cash flow analysis, financial spreading, ratio analysis, and industry comparisons.
- Assist in preparing pre-flight analyses and preliminary credit assessments for prospective and existing clients.
- Prepare underwriting packages, credit memorandums, and loan presentations for internal approval processes.
- Support senior Corporate Banking team members in structuring credit facilities and identifying appropriate loan terms and conditions.
- Monitor assigned portfolio relationships, including financial reporting requirements, covenant compliance, and risk-rating accuracy.
- Assist with annual reviews, periodic portfolio monitoring, and other credit administration requirements.
- Conduct research on industries, markets, and borrowers to support lending recommendations.
- Participate in client meetings, management calls, and relationship reviews as appropriate.
- Coordinate with Credit Administration and other internal stakeholders throughout the underwriting and approval process.
- Ensure financial information (e.g. financial statements, compliance certificates, borrowing base certificates, etc.) is accurately reviewed, entered, and maintained within bank systems.
- Assist with closing documentation and loan funding processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and client experience within Corporate Banking.
- Stay current on industry trends, credit policies, and regulatory requirements.
Other Functions
- Serve as a resource to bankers and internal partners regarding financial analysis and borrower information.
- Participate in internal training and professional development opportunities.
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial banking, corporate banking, or related financial services roles.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements and assess credit risk.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of commercial and corporate lending practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal partners and clients.
