Tesla is seeking an Associate Manager to lead front-line operations for crystalline silicon production at massive scale. You will help deploy 100GW of solar manufacturing from raw materials on American soil before the end of 2028. This role is core to Tesla s mission of accelerating the world s transition to sustainable energy. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.
During launch of this greenfield facility, you will drive daily production output, yield, and quality targets for various processes like: Czochralski crystal pulling, diamond wire saw slicing, texturing, wafer cleaning, thin film deposition, screen printing, and laser operations
Supervise and develop a team of technicians across multiple shifts
Own shift handover processes, ensuring clear communication of priorities, issues, and safety items
Partner with process and equipment engineers to resolve process issues
Track and report key production metrics including safety, quality and throughput
Enforce safety protocols and lead incident investigations to root cause and corrective action
Manage headcount planning, scheduling, and cross-training to maintain operational flexibility
Support equipment PM compliance and coordinate downtime windows with maintenance teams
Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Develop technician skills through structured coaching, performance feedback, and hands-on training
Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent experience
5+ years of manufacturing operations management in semiconductor ingot, wafer or cell manufacturing
Experience leading or supervising hourly production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
Familiarity with some of the following processes: Czochralski crystal pulling, diamond wire saw slicing, texturing, wafer cleaning, thin film deposition, screen printing, and laser operations
Strong understanding of production metrics including yield, machine availability, OEE, and cycle time
Proven ability to drive accountability and performance across a shift-based workforce
Experience with safety management systems, incident reporting, and root cause analysis
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and supply chain teams
Proficiency in data analysis tools and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Travel will vary based on launch timing. More frequently during build, less during HVM and sustaining
