    South Carolina State University''s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking to hire an Associate Head Coach, Cross Country/ Track & Field. The assistant coach will report directly to the head track coach and is directly responsible for the following duties.

    Description of Duties:

    • Direct support of the vision, goals, and strategies of the head coach.
    • Serves as a teacher in practice and competition with respect to individual and team skill development for the cross country/track program in event areas as directed by the head coach.
    • Is certified to recruit high-caliber student-athletes to attend and compete for the University.
    • Supervises practice, skill sessions, study hall, and team travel under the supervision of the head coach.
    • Serves as a mentor and positive influence on the student-athletes in the track program.
    • Coordinates administrative responsibilities as delegated by the head track coach.
    • Travels representing the university at various functions as directed by the head coach.
    • Any other program-relevant duties as assigned by the head coach.
    • Minimum Requirements:

    Minimum Requirements

    • A bachelor's degree is required.
    • USATF Level I certification
    • At least three years of coaching experience at the collegiate level specifically in cross-country and distance events.
    • Employee must gain possession of a valid driver's license
    • Current certification for NCAA recruiting and rules implementation
    • Pass routine and random drug screening as mandated by the Department of Athletics.
    • The employee must be physically able to demonstrate many of the skills required for the student-athlete to succeed in their respective sport.
    • The employee also must be able to work outdoors during a variety of weather conditions - hot, cold, and/or rainy.

    Preferred Requirements:

    USTFCCCA certification is preferred.
