Remote Role With Focus On Re Investment Funds And Affordable HousingRemote role with focus on RE investment funds and affordable housingMission-driven organizationJob DescriptionHandle legal aspects of transactional matters involving proprietary and multi-investor investment funds and project partnerships, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating fund agreements, investor side letters, and related closing documentation.Coordinate fund closings in collaboration with the Investor Relations Department, ensuring timely completion of closing requirements.Oversee outside counsel engaged in fund formation, closing, and related transactional activities.Supervise paralegal preparation of certificates, closing deliverables, and other ancillary fund documentation.Draft and review post-closing investment approval materials and coordinate the transfer of project investments from warehouse credit facilities to investment funds.Conduct due diligence and negotiate legal documentation related to fund-level financing transactions, including bridge loans and warehouse lines of credit.Manage investor transfer requests, including diligence review, negotiation of transfer documentation, and guidance to the Investor Relations Department.Advise the New Business Initiatives Department on fund formation and strategic initiatives, including structural, tax, and regulatory considerations.Support Asset Management and Project Management teams by interpreting fund agreements and investor side letters to evaluate consent requirements related to project dispositions, ownership transfers, property manager changes, waiver requests, and other fund-level matters.Administer Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance requirements and investor verification processes.Manage matters involving the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), including regulatory compliance, approvals, and related reporting obligations.The Successful ApplicantA law degree from an accredited law school, good academic credentials, and membership in at least one state bar.A minimum of seven to ten years in a sophisticated law firm or corporate legal department environment involving investment funds, federal tax law, securities, limited partnership law, and limited liability company law.Experience with commercial real estate development and financing (investment and/or lending), preferably involving affordable housing and federal low-income housing tax credits.Familiarity with government programs related to affordable housing and community development a plus, but not required.Effective drafting and research skills, and ability to integrate legal requirements into business practices.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.What's On OfferRemote roleWork/life balanceGrowth opportunitiesCompetitive base salaryBonusJob SummarySector: LegalSub Sector: Attorney - In-houseIndustry: PropertyWhere: New YorkContract Type: PermanentConsultant name: Jennifer PettigrewJob Reference: JN-072026-7067513Job Nature: Hybrid working
