Associate General Counsel for Compliance & LitigationThe Associate General Counsel provides legal advice in a variety of areas, including labor and employment, and serves as the University's primary litigation associate.Job DescriptionServe as the University's primary litigation associate.Coordinate the University's litigation and investigation efforts, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of disclosures, policies, procedures, and practices designed to comply with federal and state legislation and regulation.Support Title IX, VI, VII, and II investigations.Manage the University's relationship with outside counsel.Review, draft, and update University policies and procedures.Manage litigation conducted by outside counsel on matters in state court, federal court, administrative agencies, and internal employee disciplinary matters.Review and draft pleadings filed by outside counsel, including complaints, answers, affirmative defenses, and dispositive motions.Review and analyze pending cases to develop litigation strategy and disposition.Support all functions of the Office of Labor and Legal Affairs.Minimum QualificationsJD or equivalent degree from an ABA-accredited law school.Admission to practice law in Illinois.Five to ten years of related experience.Strong communication skills, proficiency in legal research and writing.Preferred QualificationsAbility to provide timely, consistent, sound, and practical legal advice, counseling, training, and documentation related to a wide range of academic and operational matters, working closely in support of legal department staff in a fast‑paced, complex higher‑education environment.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of faculty and student affairs.Strong writing and drafting skills.Ability to function effectively and collaboratively as part of a team that includes businesspeople, academics, and other attorneys.Teamwork in a small collaborative legal team.Strong client counseling skills from both legal and business perspectives, with the ability to differentiate between the two.Ability to deliver legal advice in an understandable manner and in formats such as written correspondence, memoranda, briefs, and presentations, with little or no editing or revision by supervisors.Evidence of contributing to professional development of colleagues and/or leadership in the profession.Strong ability to develop and maintain collegial professional relationships with colleagues and clients.Additional Applicant InformationPhysical Requirement/Demands: [Details not provided].Posting Specific QuestionsRequired fields are indicated with an asterisk (*).#J-18808-Ljbffr
