DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The Strategy Management team is accountable for organizational strategic planning that drives focus, clarity, motivation, and results across the company. We connect the dots across all business areas to ensure our strategy is successfully executed leading to stellar company performance. We work directly with the Executive Leadership Team to create and drive organizational strategy and explore strategic opportunities key to differentiating our company.

The Strategy team:

1. Drives a unified annual strategic planning process resulting in an effective organizational strategy that is well understood and executed across the organization

2. Facilitates and organizes ongoing conversations, planning and alignment of the strategy process with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and key functional leaders across the organization

3. Collaborates with key functional stakeholders and acts as the common thread in pressure testing financial feasibility, business case integrity and alignment with growth goals for strategic objectives

4. Continually monitors the market and develops/shares informed views on competitor trends, signals, and opportunities to meet current and future market demands

5. Prepares use cases and business requirements for "change the business" initiatives, supporting business development and managing special projects for executives

6. Synthesizes key internal and external data points and information as needed to present ELT with continuous insight regarding business opportunities and threats

7. Carries out various complex analyses as directed by ELT to inform strategic decisions

8. Coordinates highest priority cross functional initiatives - proactively addressing and surmounting challenges that arise to ensure company performance

9. Partners across all functional groups within the enterprise to ensure the organization has tools and support needed to understand and execute strategy to meet long term goals.

10. Serves as a pipeline of leadership talent for the broader organization by providing team members with a wide cross-functional view and executive leadership exposure. While team members are expected to remain on the team for a minimum of 18-24 months, as they build a reputation for their capacity to deliver rapid and sustainable impact, there will be opportunity for them to seek positions of leadership within the broader organization.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director, Strategy works with leadership to solve ChenMed''s most difficult challenges. Incumbents will work with multiple Centers of Excellence (COEs) on strategic and operational initiatives in support of the mandates outlined above. They will be relied upon to deliver outstanding service to support the execution of the strategic planning process and special projects. Work may be performed under the supervision of the Strategy leaders or the COE sponsor. As part of an apprenticeship-based development model, ADs are encouraged and coached to achieve personal and professional growth. ADs are expected to contribute to evolving the corporate strategy team capabilities and shaping our team's culture.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Associate Director serves as a "general athlete" capable of supporting a broad range of Strategy team efforts, (i.e., from analytical model building to competitive research to workshop facilitation). Day-to-day responsibilities will be to lead medium-complexity initiatives or workstreams, including the near/mid-term work planning and structuring, critical thinking, analysis, and content execution/delivery, with guidance and input as needed from strategy leaders.

• Responds to challenges and change with resilience. Expects projects to change direction based on results and progress and shows resilience in adapting and driving in the right direction as new learnings or information is available that results in shifting strategy and/or priorities.
• Ownership over personal growth and development. The AD is expected to demonstrate the personal capacity and drive to grow into the role of Corporate Strategy Director, or to assume other leadership roles within the organization.
• Build Strategy team culture and capabilities. Takes an active role to enhance strategy team capabilities and onboard new talent as part of our apprenticeship-based model. Practices and adheres to the ChenMed values and behaviors.

RESULTS

• Brings structured thinking to business problems. Able to navigate complexity and ambiguity, cutting through the noise to identify root causes, troubleshoot problems and drive clarity, with support from Corporate Strategy leaders.
• Identifies and focuses on the most important issues. Shows a "nose for value" and directs our attention and energy on the most important issues within the constraints of owned workstream.
• Proactively drives the process. Takes full responsibility for owned workstream(s), depending on complexity of the case, with moderate direction. Consistently proposes next steps to supervisor and drives forward progress with limited input on a daily basis. Regularly communicates progress, roadblocks and proposed solutions upward.
• Generates actionable insights. Draws business insights and implications from own work, including recommendations on changes in course of action based on learnings or output.
• Conducts high-quality, accurate analysis. "Owns the model" driving all "hands on keyboard" work including developing frameworks, sense-checking own output, and deriving key insights. Consistently delivers timely and zero-defect execution of assigned analysis with minimum oversight.

Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills and the ability to advise our executive stakeholders professionally and positively
• Outstanding skill in MS Office including strong Excel proficiency, with rapid speed to output and strong understanding of fundamental Excel design principles
• Ability to tailor approach to customer and get things done in a variety of ways, build alignment and engage at all levels of a matrixed organization, including senior executives
• Resourcefulness in delivering results with demonstrated track-record in customer service orientation, bias to action, and reliability/follow-through; ability to influence without authority
• Spoken and written fluency in English
• Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and/or nationally up to 25% of the time
• This position requires the use and exercise of independent judgement

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, public health or a related field required; experience may substitute for degree on a year-for-year basis above the minimum required
• Four to six (4-6) years of experience, including one to three (1-3) years of management consulting, corporate strategy, private equity or banking experience
• Experience in healthcare service industry and emerging healthcare delivery models in value-based care preferred

PAY RANGE:

$118,062 - $168,658 Salary

The posted pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for this position. Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for a bonuses or commissions.
