Description:

Provides leadership, direction and supervision for the Office of Learning Abroad (OLA) for the university. Assists in developing, advancing and directing implementation of academic and non-academic experiences overseas.

  1. Directs departmental operations and budgets, strategic planning and growth, policy and procedure development, manage affiliations and contracts and supervises all learning abroad staff members, student workers, and operations.

  2. Serves on the IGE leadership team to promote the university''s globalization goals and enrollment targets in collaboration with colleges, centers, departments, and curriculum into other academic and non-academic experiences.

  3. Oversees faculty-led program development to include but not limited to; program proposals to approvals, facilitating faculty-led workshops, supporting faculty on program development, student recruitment, scholarship opportunities, administrative procedures, marketing support and risk procedures.

  4. Supervises all Learning Abroad staff members and student workers, office budgets for operations, fees and scholarship funds.

  5. Coordinates assessment for all learning abroad programs each semester including question creation, layout, distribution and data evaluation for final reports.

  6. Utilizes Terra Dotta for traveler registration, application approvals, troubleshooting and collaborating on software needs, updates and opportunities for use.

  7. Oversees administration of scholarships in Learning Abroad, including strategic development, recruitment, advising strategies, communications and semester workshops.

  8. Partners with other university departments to support other international scholarship recruitment efforts.

  9. Cultivates partnership, affiliation and exchange partner agreements as well as faculty led logistics provider partnerships.

  10. Oversees risk management and the health, safety, and welfare process for all Learning Abroad programs.

  11. Facilitates partnership contract approval processes for program providers, insurance, national and international organizations, CRM and other partners.

  12. Generates reports for annual university reporting requirements.

  13. Performs other job-related duties as required.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

  • Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.

Additional Duties:

  • Represents the Institute for Global Engagement at campus-wide, community, and external events as appropriate.

  • Higher Education experience
  • Ability to take initiative, problem solve, exercise excellent judgement, demonstrate critical thinking skills, and adapt to shifting priorities in diverse settings.
  • Ability to clearly interpret and implement policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be a multi-tasker, extremely organized, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of internal and external constituents.
  • Must have strong attentional to detail and be able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Highest level of professionalism and respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in a second language

Experience working in international education

Supervision experience

Master's Degree
