ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL SERVICES (SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING, INTERVENTION. AND ASSESSMENT)

The Associate Director of Special Services will support the Director of Special Services in leading a comprehensive, district-wide approach to Social Emotional Learning (SEL), mental and behavioral health, and inclusive educational practices. This role is grounded in a commitment to fostering safe, supportive, trauma-sensitive, and culturally responsive school environments that promote the well-being and success of all students. The Associate Director will assist in the development, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of systems aligned with federal, state, and local mandates related to SEL, school safety, and special education. Emphasis is placed on integrating SEL practices across all tiers of support, ensuring equitable access to services, and strengthening partnerships with families and the broader community. Core Areas of Supervision and Leadership Social Emotional Learning (SEL) & Related Services Lead and support a cohesive system of SEL and wellness services that address the needs of the whole child, including: Mental and behavioral health services that are proactive, preventative, and responsive Development of safe, inclusive, and supportive school climates Implementation of trauma-sensitive and healing-centered practices Coordination of family support, engagement, and outreach services Integration of SEL into academic instruction and school-wide practices Collaboration with school administration, school counselors, psychologists, social workers, contracted services and community partners Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) Design and implement equitable MTSS frameworks that integrate academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports Establish district-wide benchmarking systems in SEL domains Provide ongoing professional development on assessment practices, progress monitoring, and data-informed instruction Develop systems for monitoring student progress across tiers, including pre-referral and special education interventions Use data to guide instructional decisions, refine interventions, and improve student outcomes

Special Education & Inclusive Practices Provide coaching to administrators and staff on SEL integration, inclusive practices, behavior management and differentiated instruction Support evaluation and supervision of school psychologists, school adjustment counselors, deans, behavioral support staff and school nurses Assist in maintaining compliance with IDEA, ADA, Civil Rights regulations, and state requirements. Act as district Title IX Coordinator Support systems that ensure equitable access, inclusion, and student-centered decision-making Compile and analyze data for state and local reporting, including Tiered Focused Monitoring
