About the Job:
The IT Business Relationship Manager (BRM) for Commercial and Medical functions at Foundation Medicine serves as the primary strategic interface between Information Technology and key business stakeholders across Commercial (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations) and Medical (e.g., Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Real-World Evidence). This role is responsible for ensuring alignment between business priorities and technology solutions, enabling scalable, compliant, and data-driven capabilities that support growth and improved patient outcomes. The BRM works closely with senior leaders to understand evolving business strategies, translate them into actionable IT initiatives, and drive delivery through structured demand management and governance processes.
A critical component of the role is building and sustaining strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The BRM acts as a strategic advisor and thought partner, providing guidance on how technology - including CRM platforms, marketing technology stacks, and digital customer engagement tools - can enable more effective commercial execution and medical engagement. The role requires documenting, maintaining, and continuously evolving multi-year capability roadmaps across Commercial and Medical domains, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, data strategies, and regulatory considerations. The BRM also provides thought leadership on emerging trends, such as omnichannel engagement, personalized medicine insights, and advanced analytics, helping the business proactively leverage innovation to remain competitive.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience with CRM applications (e.g., Salesforce Health Cloud, Veeva CRM), marketing technologies (e.g., marketing automation platforms, content management systems, websites), and enterprise data & analytics solutions. They demonstrate strong business acumen in commercial and medical processes, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights. Success in this role requires a strategic mindset balanced with hands-on execution, excellent communication and influencing skills, and a proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration. The BRM must be adept at ensuring technology investments deliver measurable business value, improve customer and patient engagement, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Thought Leadership
Monitor and interpret emerging trends in life sciences commercial and medical technology (e.g., omnichannel orchestration, AI/ML, real world data, digital therapeutics, field enablement)
Advise senior Commercial, Medical, and IT leaders on strategic opportunities, risks, and modernization pathways
Facilitate cross functional forums to align on Commercial and Medical technology strategy and innovation priorities
Translate insights into actionable recommendations and investment proposals
Capability Roadmaps
Develop multi year capability roadmaps across CRM, marketing automation, data platforms, analytics, patient services, and field technologies
Ensure roadmaps reflect business strategy, regulatory requirements, and enterprise architecture principles
Manage investments using a transparent, value based framework
Maintain a living roadmap that guides annual planning, budgeting, and sequencing of initiatives
Platform Ownership
Serve as product owners for core commercial platforms (e.g., CRM, MDM, marketing automation, data hubs, and analytics environments)
Define platform vision, governance, and release strategy
Manage platform lifecycle, including upgrades, integrations, vendor relationships, and licensing
Ensure platforms are secure, compliant, scalable, and optimized for user experience
Drive standardization, interoperability, and data governance across the commercial ecosystem
Commercial and Medical Technology Operations
Drive ITIL-base process excellence for the Commercial and Medical technology portfolio
Manage Commercial and Medical technology investments and costs in line with IT budget
Comply with FMI''s attendance policies

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Boston, MA is $184,110- $216,600 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicines compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicine''s benefits.
