Job Description
Associate Director, Global Legal Strategies and Policy, is responsible for supporting the legal program portfolio for the Global Legal Strategies and Policy (GLSP) group. Reporting to the Practice Area Director of the Program Management Office / Chief of Staff, this role supports driving the development, implementation, and execution of the team's legal and business strategies and creating tailored project management and project advancement plans for complex initiatives. The Manager applies data-driven and technology-enabled approaches, including AI tools and change management skills to optimize team effectiveness, communications, structure execution plans, and develop presentations. This role contributes to organizational effectiveness initiatives within GLSP and helps build team capability through facilitation, coordination, and solutions design. This role typically involves working on multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative, high-performance environment. The ideal candidate is adaptable, dependable, and energized by solving difficult problems with smart, driven colleagues.
Responsibilities
Support Global Legal Strategies and Policy Program Manager project teams by developing program management strategies to achieve the goals and objectives.
Collaborate effectively across functional areas within AbbVie to further GLSP resource objectives in support of the strategic imperatives.
Lead project implementation for GLSP projects from ideation to completion through effective coordination of matrixed, multi-practice area teams with membership outside of Legal.
Support definition of clear objectives and strategies for each project and contribute to short- and long-term project strategy.
Lead planning and executing workshops and team problem-solving events.
Position projects for seamless transition from GLSP to appropriate functional areas; serve as GLSP representative on strategies advancing through execution outside GLSP.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelors or equivalent degree required.
Minimum 6 years of experience in operations, project management, or program management.
Experience with or demonstrated interest in organizational effectiveness, team facilitation, or instructional design.
Hands-on experience with AI assistant legal technology platforms, or workflow automation tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChapGPT, Legora, project lifecycle management platforms, or similar).
Familiarity with data analytics tools and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical policy, market access, or affordability programs (e.g., 340B, reimbursement, regulatory policy) strongly preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Track record of anticipating and resolving problems while exhibiting sound judgment and a realistic understanding of issues.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Strong facilitation and communication skills, with comfort presenting to diverse audiences.
Tech-forward mindset with a demonstrated ability to learn, adopt, and advocate for new technologies.
Background in organizational design principles, team effectiveness, or internal consulting a plus.
Experience influencing and collaborating across functions and with varying levels of leadership.
Demonstrated ability to informally mentor and share knowledge with colleagues, without formal supervisory responsibility.
Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and exercising independent judgment on ambiguous, high-visibility initiatives.
