    Description

    Essential Functions:

    Characteristic duties and responsibilities of the Associate Director, Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) include: 

    • Advise the Panhellenic, National Pan-Hellenic & Interfraternity Councils; advise individual fraternity and sorority chapters; advise Gamma Sigma Alpha, Ordre of Omega & Rho Lambda 
    • Assist organizations in developing, coordinating and upholding policies and procedures; establish specialized training & personalized assistance to organizations; maintain accurate records of chapter membership, recruitment statistics, service hours, and scholarship; management of Office RooConnect page, including update of forms, files and resources 
    • Supervise and provide an educational experience to two (2) student staff within the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life 
    • Assist in the programming of key fraternity and sorority life events and traditions; lead effective and comprehensive recruitment activities and initiatives 
    • Serve as a resource for faculty, staff, students, alumni/ae and national offices that collaborate and support fraternity and sorority initiatives.  Provide professional development by serving on University committees and being involved in various organizations. 
    • Coordinate educational programs geared toward the fraternity and sorority community with a special emphasis on recruitment, community, & policy.  
    • Handle contract negotiation and processing as it pertains to programs & events. 
    • Manage programming budget by planning, directing, and controlling the financial 
    •  Manage the FSL Enhancement Fund by administering chapter recruitment grants, supporting professional development initiatives, overseeing the FSL Ambassadors program, and ensuring strategic use of gift funds to strengthen and grow the FSL community. 
    • Lead collaborative efforts with the University Alumni Association to strengthen engagement with fraternity and sorority alumni by coordinating meetings, and developing strategies that enhance alumni involvement, mentorship, philanthropy, and support of the FSL community 
    • Develop and implementing marketing strategies for fraternity and sorority life programs 
    • Develop an ongoing assessment program (qualitative & quantitative) to monitor the satisfaction with and growth of fraternity and sorority life programming 
    • Oversees the Department of Student Life Marketing area; supervising a team of student employees including a social media coordinator, 2-3 student photographers, and a content creator, to create engaging content and promote department programs and events across digital and social media platforms 
    •  Assist Director, Student Life with special projects and perform other duties as assigned 

    Additional Position Information:

    Education:

    Requires a relevant master's degree.

    Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:

    None.

    Experience:

    Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience with fraternity and sorority life programs, advising, and/or employment with a national fraternity or sorority required. Ability to counsel and advise students regarding university policies and requirements required. Strong organizational, written and oral communications skills required. Demonstrated leadership ability required. An articulate understanding of the mission, culture, climate and environment of a metropolitan university required. Experience with WorkDay and Microsoft Office preferred 

    Leadership:

    Direct supervision and evaluation of work as a first-line supervisor over non-exempt staff including hiring, terminating, disciplining; or functional guidance and/or project leadership over exempt staff engaged in activities of a recurring basis.

    Physical Requirements:

    Job is physically comfortable; individual is normally seated and has discretion about walking, standing, etc.  May occasionally lift very lightweight objects.

    Working Conditions:

    No major sources of working conditions discomfort, standard working environment with possible

    minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions, minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems, and/or up to 40% use of PC terminal.
