The Associate Director of Compliance manages day-to-day compliance operations for up to four assigned NCAA Division I sports. The Associate Director serves as a key advisor to coaches, staff, and student-athletes, ensuring strict adherence to all NCAA, ACC, and institutional rules and policies. Reporting to the Director of Compliance, this role leads the admissions, VISA/ I-20 logistics and initial eligibility certification for all sports and designs governance policies and processes to strengthen compliance oversight. Successful candidates will demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of collegiate athletic compliance trends and expertise in NCAA Division I bylaws, specifically eligibility, recruiting, and financial aid.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree required; master's degree/Juris Doctor preferred.
- Two years of experience in compliance sport oversight and/or bylaw oversight and applying NCAA rules and regulations at a Division I institution along with experience applying policy issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics is required.
Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of Compliance Assistant Software, LSDBi, Teamworks and recruiting software. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Willing to work evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities
- Sport Oversight: Serve as the primary compliance liaison for up to four assigned sports, managing roster rules, playing seasons, and personnel limits.
- Admissions and Initial Eligibility: Lead the evaluation, tracking, and certification of admissions, I-20 check-in, and initial eligibility for all incoming student-athletes across all sports.
- Rules Compliance: Monitor and enforce NCAA, ACC, and university regulations to prevent violations. Self-report any violations to the NCAA.
- Rules Education: providing proactive rules education, interpretations of NCAA rules, and developing new policies and procedures to support a culture of compliance.
