    Job Summary/Basic Functions

    Incumbent in this position will have the responsibility of providing veterinary care and perform other related duties in the Division of Animal Care at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Division of Animal Care is composed of three animal facilities with a total of 51,773 square feet. The present number of investigators utilizing these facilities is 80. The investigators are involved in 213 research projects. The yearly average number of animals used at LSUHSC is in excess of 20,000.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Required Education: Doctorate

    Required Field of Study: Doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine

    Certifications or Licenses Required: Diplomate status in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM). Eligible for USDA accreditation. Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in a state in the United States (Louisiana preferred).

    Number of years required to perform the job: 5

    Type of experience required to perform the job: Veterinary experience with at least 3 years in a clinical or research lab setting.
