Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Academic Innovation and Strategy leads academic initiatives that enhance teaching, learning, and student success. This role drives innovation and program development through strategic planning, faculty support, and cross-departmental collaboration. Oversees workforce initiatives, grant coordination, and student support while fostering partnerships and aligning programs with institutional and labor market needs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Develops and implements comprehensive strategies for academic innovation aligned with institutional goals, monitors emerging trends in higher education to guide strategic planning, and establishes evaluation frameworks and metrics to assess outcomes.Manages and trains staff in the use of academic tools such as the Watermark Faculty Success portal. Facilitates workshops, seminars, and communities of practice to promote faculty development and innovation. Conducts market research, feasibility studies, labor analyses, and coordinating program reviews and accreditation efforts to support the development and enhancement of new academic programs.Serve as a liaison between academic departments, IT, instructional design, and external partners including workforce organizations to ensure alignment and effective communication of program development and delivery. Collaborates on special projects to enhance teaching and learning and represents the college in regional and national networks to promote innovation and strengthen external partnerships. Supports students throughout the admissions and enrollment processes, assists with resolving academic concerns, and ensures students are connected with appropriate support services to foster academic success.Works with Dean, Department Chairs, Directors, Faculty program managers to meet projected enrollment goals and other outcome measurements. Manages workforce development initiatives by conducting labor market research, maintaining compliance with regional workforce requirements, and collaborating on the growth of technical dual enrollment programs to meet community employment needs.Coordinates industry meetings and events that advanced academic initiatives and provides operational support across departments to ensure effective communication and workflow. Coordinates with appropriate departments to manage the awarding of postsecondary adult vocational fee waivers. Coordinates the development, submission, and management of grants and external contracts in collaboration with Academic leadership and the Grants Office, ensuring alignment with administrative and legislative requirements.Prepares correspondence, reports, and presentations on behalf of academic leadership and supports the development of data-informed divisional reports in coordination with Institutional Research.Plans and participates in recruitment and outreach initiatives by supporting divisional marketing efforts and coordinating college credit recruitment events, including tours, fairs, and class visits.Performs other duties as required or assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institutionFour (4) years of full-time experience in educational setting, instructional technology, curriculum development, or a related field.Two (2) years in a leadership role focused on academic innovation or strategy.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree or higher from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.Two (2) years of experience in using PeopleSoft Academic systems (schedule of classes, room management, course catalog, faculty workload modules).KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Skilled in analyzing and re-engineering operations and procedures and in developing and implementing new ones. Knowledge of applications of computer-based systems, especially college operating systems.Ability to analyze complex organizational and administrative problems, to interpret operational needs, and to develop appropriate, integrated, and creative solutions in a timely manner.Critical thinking skills, ability to deal with ambiguity, resolve complex problems, and effectively manage projects.Ability to balance the planning, organization, and management of multiple projects, simultaneously, work under time constraints and meet strict deadlines.Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to train and supervise employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments for oneself and others.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team of faculty, staff, and administrators within a diverse community.Skilled working in an atmosphere of collegial decision-making, demonstrating consensus-building skills.Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to become proficient in videoconferencing applications, including Teams/Zoom. Conditions of Employment
