Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate a wide range of construction and commercial contracts
• Draft corporate documents, joint venture, and partnership agreements
• Work with the legal team to advise senior-level executives on legal, operational, compliance and regulatory risk and corporate governance matters
• Develop and implement strategies across the organization to improve our legal processes and reduce risk
• Develop strategies for resolving disputes and claims, supervise outside counsel on litigation, and represent OHLA in mediations as client representative
• Develop deep relationships with our construction project teams and key business partners
• Tour our projects throughout the region and assist project staff as necessary

Qualifications

• Education: Juris Doctor or LL.M degree
• NY Bar
• Experience: At least 5+ years of experience with background in public contracting, infrastructure projects, bidding, or procurement (whether in a government role, in-house, or with a law firm) strongly preferred
• Prior experience directly advising clients on complex matters
• Solid experience in balancing business needs and risk
• Government experience in infrastructure - preferred

Skills:

• Fluency with legal research tools, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and proficiency in MS Excel
• Analytical skills and ability to develop reasoning independently
• Brilliant writing skills - ability to craft compelling and persuasive narratives and draft favorable agreements without legalese
• Eagerness to learn and think creatively
• Strong interpersonal awareness
• Meticulous attention to detail

• Adept at managing multiple deadlines and competing demands, and adjusting to rapidly changing priorities
• Engendering trust through honesty, friendliness and professionalism
