    The Department of Surgery seeks an Emergency Medicine Associate Clerkship Director to expand the Surgery Residency Program in Harlingen, TX. This role involves developing exceptional educational and scholarly activities for medical students and residents, while working within the UT Health RGV clinical mission and contributing to the growth of the Surgery residency program. A strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students is essential.

    Minimum Qualifications

    M.D. or Equivalent. Must possess or be able to obtain a Texas Medical License. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery.

    Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

    Board Certified/Eligible in Emergency Medicine.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Fellowship training with at least one year of post-training clinical experience is desired.

    UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may

    require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is

    performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive

    and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code

    §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of

    Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least

    135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement

    Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week

    and at least 135 days in length.
