Description

Position Title: Associate Civil Engineer

specialized services and other material used by the department/division.

Work Location: The City of Detroit,2 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48226

Work Hours: 8 AM to 5 PM

Examples of Duties

Analyze project scope, review and evaluate field conditions and data. Develop and design engineering solutions. Manage preparation of engineering construction plans. Ensure construction is in conformance with plans, specifications, budget, codes and applicable standards. Manage and interpret construction projects and plans. Create project documents, prepare and maintain records and reports. Oversee, supervise, and inspect work of contractors or other workforce, as needed. Manage and supervise inspectors and other staff assigned to projects. Instruct, counsel, mentor, and advise project team and subordinates on assignments and difficult tasks to see that work is performed satisfactorily to meet expected standards. Represent the department/division with individual or groups of citizens, public agencies or with private groups. Prepare and evaluate requests for proposal for consultant services, specialized services and other material used by the department/division.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: US Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Mechanics, plus three (3) years of experience as a civil engineering professional.

Special Skills: Must have three (3) years of experience in each of the following skills: Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Procore, and specification analysis.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS

City Employees Retirement System

As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:

  • Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
  • At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
  • At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
  • In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
  • An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;
  • Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
