Associate Actuary

About the Opportunity
Our client, a growing property & casualty insurance organization, is seeking an Associate Actuary to join its actuarial team. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, and business analytics while partnering with leaders across the organization to support strategic decision-making. The role is ideal for an actuary looking to expand their technical expertise and gain visibility across multiple business functions in a dynamic insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform actuarial analyses related to pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, and profitability.
- Support rate filings and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Partner with teams across underwriting, claims, finance, marketing, sales, and technology.
- Present actuarial findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Assist with catastrophe exposure analysis, reinsurance evaluations, and profitability studies.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to support product and pricing strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve models, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencies.
- Monitor industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes impacting the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- ACAS designation preferred; candidates nearing credential completion may also be considered.
- Approximately 5+ years of actuarial experience within the property & casualty insurance industry.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and SQL.
- Experience with Python, R, or similar programming languages.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in personal lines or residential property insurance.
- Familiarity with catastrophe modeling, reinsurance analytics, or predictive modeling techniques.
- Experience with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Exposure to GIS tools or advanced data analytics platforms.
