Assistant Vice President, Marketing, Cerave & Vichy, US

New York, New York, United States

Role Overview

This AVP role sits on the CeraVe and Vichy US marketing team and leads Facial Skincare for both brands. You will own the US strategic vision, go-to-market, and growth acceleration of a $380M+ sell-out business, one of the most dynamic in the skincare category.

  • Manager, Core Facial
  • Manager, Skin-Renewing
  • Manager, Vichy Skin

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the development and implementation of brand marketing plans and budgets to achieve category volume, profit, and spending objectives.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of the marketing mix to build and adjust plans in line with the US brand strategy. Partner with the global brand leads (DMI) to leverage synergies where appropriate.
  • Plan and oversee execution of brand, trade marketing, and retailer strategies to meet Gross, Net, and Profit targets. Assess the profitability and revenue impact of business opportunities, understand the interrelationships of key financial indicators, and identify gaps in budget and profit plans.
  • Determine financial and people resource allocation across assigned franchises to optimize brand performance. Anticipate risks to brand and segment performance and develop national contingency plans.
  • Build close working relationships with the trade (sell-in team), commercial teams, and demand planning. Translate the national brand strategy into customer-specific plans aligned with trade and customer marketing objectives for assigned retailers.
  • Manage the brand A&P expense line of the P&L for franchise budgets (media, A&I, and other brand investments). Work with Finance and the Head of Marketing to identify spending opportunities and oversee team requests.
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports and cross-functional peers to deliver brand objectives, while clearly communicating standards of performance.
  • Lead multiple cross-functional teams to execute brand initiatives, and ensure the brand strategy is communicated, understood, and implemented across all functions.
  • Model leadership behavior for the Brand team, the division, and cross-functional partners.
  • Develop strategic brand plans that use current and future consumer and customer trends and deep knowledge of the competitive landscape to build brand equity.

  • Marketing experience in brand positioning, strategy development, consumer insight generation, direct-to-consumer advertising, consumer promotion, and integrated marketing communications. A deep understanding of consumer centricity and omnichannel activation is a must.
  • Digital marketing experience (e.g., social media, e-commerce, analytics, online) highly preferred.
  • Proven success working with account teams and the trade to drive profitable brand growth. In-depth understanding of the CPG/FMCG and customer landscape is a must.
  • Experience building strategic agency partnerships that contribute to long-term brand health.
  • Marketing thought leadership: the ability to turn consumer insight into strategic thinking and decisions.
  • Solid financial acumen and budget management experience, with sound judgment to analyze complex issues and recommend clear direction within the big-picture needs of the brand.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presenting effectively, fostering open communication, listening actively, and preparing clear written communications and presentations.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to cultivate relationships and networks and foster teamwork across the US and DMI (global marketing).
  • Ability to manage performance and develop the skills of others, encouraging diversity of thinking while motivating and coaching.
  • Ability to plan for the short and long term and manage execution within a strategic framework.
