Summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking an Assistant VDC Manager to join our Mid-Atlantic team, based out of Richmond, VA. This role is ideal for a VDC professional with approximately four years of BIM and digital delivery experience who is ready to support coordination, strengthen project workflows, and grow into broader VDC leadership responsibilities. The Assistant VDC Manager partners with project teams, designers, and trade partners to support model coordination, improve digital workflows, leverage construction technology, and contribute to successful project outcomes while advancing Balfour Beattys digital delivery capabilities.

Essential Functions

Model Coordination: Facilitate multi-trade coordination and clash detection using Navisworks and Revit; run coordination meetings and model issue tracking.

MEP & Trade Integration: Coordinate building systems with trade partners to identify and resolve conflicts and support constructability reviews.

VDC & BIM: Perform BIM execution planning, model logistics, and data management in alignment with company VDC standards and workflows.

Model Development: Create, update, and maintain architectural, structural, and MEP models at appropriate Levels of Development (LOD) through design and construction phases.

Technology & Platform Support: Provide model-based support for documentation, coordination, and field use; assist teams with Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) workflows.

Quality & Accuracy: Perform model checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with construction documents and project standards.

Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with project teams, designers, and subcontractors to support alignment, efficiency, and best practices in digital delivery.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 3+ years of VDC/BIM experience within the construction industry, including exposure to commercial construction projects.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, problem-solving, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Experience collaborating with operations, preconstruction, design partners, trade contractors, and clients.
  • Interest in implementing innovative technologies and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery.
  • Ability to support VDC strategies that improve project execution, VDC standards, collaboration, coordination, and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to support VDC deliverables across assigned projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and company standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and shop drawings.

Workflows and software

  • Experience supporting VDC/BIM efforts on project teams, including BIM execution planning and digital delivery workflows.
  • Experience participating in multidisciplinary coordination meetings, clash detection, model coordination and model review processes.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)/BIM 360.
  • Working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, Synchro, Revizto, Dynamo, or other construction technology platforms.
  • Experience supporting preconstruction efforts (such as 4D scheduling, 5D estimating) and logistics planning.

Preferred Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in VDC/BIM, with increasing responsibility supporting project teams and coordination efforts.
  • Experience supporting VDC efforts on data center, federal, or mission critical project types is preferred.
  • Experience supporting regional level VDC objectives.
  • Experience supporting presentations of VDC solutions, coordination progress, and digital delivery workflows to project stakeholders.
  • Exposure to field technology such as layout, laser scanning, drones or reality capture.
  • Ability to assist with training and technical guidance for project team members on VDC tools and workflows.

Pay Rate: $100,000-120,000/year

  • This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employees pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, incentive, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Companys sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Companys sole discretion, consistent with the law and any applicable plan documents.
