Salary Range: $25,000 - $27,000 per academic year. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
Work Location: Primarily on-site

Summary
The Department of Leadership, Research, and Foundations in the College of Education at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for a half-time Assistant Teaching Professor in the Principal License and Administrator License (Superintendent/Special Education Director) Program. The workload for this position is teaching four courses per academic year (graduate licensure courses; summer teaching opportunities may also be available); and providing service to support the licensure programs, department, college, and university.
Two positions are available to be filled with positions to begin August 17, 2026.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
(80%) Teaching graduate licensure courses in the Principal License or Administrator License programs
The successful candidate will possess, and be able to demonstrate, a variety of pedagogical approaches that enhance student learning, including the use of technology, connection of theory to practice, student engagement, and experiential education. Demonstrate commitment to expanding educational access, opportunity, and excellence for learners across varied educational settings and communities. Teaching will primarily occur online, with opportunities to teach in-person in local school district partnership cohorts. Areas of specialization are open, but preference will be given to applicants with expertise in (1) school building level leadership; (2) public K-12 education finance, human resources, and legal issues.
(18%) Service to the licensure programs
Collaborate with department faculty to create and maintain partnerships with school districts and statewide education leaders to support recruitment and retention of licensure students, including the development of district cohorts
Assisting in the development and implementation of innovative marketing and recruitment strategies to connect prospective students to licensure programmatic offerings
Provide academic advising to prospective and current students related to course planning
Attend annual regional and state-wide meetings, such as CASE
Assisting in coordination of annual mock interviews
Contribute to bi-annual meetings of the Education Collaborative Leadership Group (ECLG)
(2%) Service to the department, college, and university
Participate in monthly department meetings
Serve on relevant university-level leadership opportunities when available

Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire:
MA in educational leadership or a closely related field from an accredited higher education institution is required
Principal license preparation from an accredited higher education institution is required
Professional, full-time experience in the principalship or school level leadership is required
Experience working in district-level leadership is highly desirable
The ideal candidate has an earned doctorate in educational leadership or a closely related field from an accredited higher education institution
