Assistant Teaching Professor - Health and Society & Healthcare Administration
College of Arts and Sciences
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
The Department of Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applicants for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Healthcare Administration starting September 1, 2027. This position will also support the university's Health and Society Program. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and will teach courses in healthcare administration, public health, or a closely related field. This is a 9-month, non-tenure-track position with primary responsibilities for undergraduate instruction, undergraduate advising, and university service. Initial appointment is for two years, with possibility of renewal.
The Department of Economics offers BA and BS degrees in Economics as well as a BS in Healthcare Administration The BS Healthcare Administration prepares students for careers in planning, directing, and coordinating medical and wellness services. This program is designed for healthcare professionals who want to advance their careers as managers or supervisors. The program is also well-suited to students who are looking to work in the healthcare industry with a focus on operations, administration, and management rather than the science-focused aspects of this profession. The interdisciplinary Health and Society Program (BA, BS) brings together social science, science, and humanities courses that explore the social, cultural, economic, political, and biological factors that impact human health and the ethical dimensions of health care practices and public health policies. One of the goals of the Health and Society program is to close equity gaps in allied health fields and support students' pursuit of professions that impact population health.
UMass Dartmouth is in the beautiful ocean side community of Dartmouth, about an hour south of Boston, half-hour east of Providence, and half-hour west of Cape Cod. It offers a world class education to undergraduate and graduate students each year in over 40 undergraduate and 23 graduate programs offered by the College of Engineering, College of Nursing, Charlton College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Visual and Performing Arts, School of Law and School for Marine Science and Technology.
The College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Economics, and the Health and Society Program value the ability to serve students from a broad range of cultural heritages, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, abilities, and orientations.
