About the Role:Mariposa Montessori School in Los Gatos, CA is looking for a passionate and nurturing Assistant Teacher to join our dedicated team. This is a wonderful opportunity to support young learners in a child-centered, hands-on educational environment where curiosity and independence are celebrated every day.
Responsibilities:- Support the lead Montessori teacher in delivering engaging, child-directed lessons and activities
- Supervise and guide students during classroom work cycles, outdoor play, and transitions
- Prepare and maintain Montessori materials and a clean, organized classroom environment
- Observe and document individual student progress and developmental milestones
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom community
- Communicate warmly and professionally with parents, guardians, and staff
- Assist with snack time, lunch, and other daily routines as needed
Requirements:- Experience working with young children in a school, childcare, or educational setting
- Familiarity with Montessori philosophy and methods is a plus
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) units or degree preferred
- Patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic demeanor with a genuine love for children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to pass a background check and meet state licensing requirements
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
