Assistant Teacher - Daycare & Preschool
Location: The Learning Experience - Jenison, MI
Pay: $16-$18 per hour, based on experience and credentials
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm or 9:30am-6:30pm
The Learning Experience - Jenison is seeking a caring and dependable Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with children and wants to build or continue a career in childcare. You'll work alongside experienced Lead Teachers to create safe, engaging classrooms where children learn through play, exploration, and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Lead Teachers with classroom routines and learning activities
- Engage children through play, art, music, movement, sensory activities, and hands-on learning
- Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, outdoor play, and transitions
- Provide attentive supervision and positive guidance
- Help prepare classroom activities and learning materials
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment
- Build positive relationships with children and families
- Provide classroom and ratio coverage as needed
- Collaborate with teachers and center leadership
- Follow Michigan childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, or experience working with children preferred
- CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework is a plus
- Patient, dependable, energetic, and team-oriented
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to meet Michigan childcare licensing requirements
