High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field; experience working with preschool children.

Position Summary

The assistant teacher works with the other members of the teaching team to create a positive, productive, professional environment for the children within their classroom. The responsibilities are determined by the job description and needs of the classroom, as identified by the lead teacher and/or administrators.

Professionalism; Working knowledge of young children's development and developmentally appropriate practice; On-going desire and pursuit of additional educational training.

Physical Demands

Participate in all activities with children ages birth through five which includes squatting, lifting, sitting on the floor, and standing.

Duties/Responsibilities

The assistant teacher is responsible for aiding the lead teacher in the classroom throughout all daily activities and interactions with children. On-going supervision of children.

Percentage of time 70 Duties/Responsibilities

Implementation of planned activities, maintaining a safe environment, and supervision.

Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities

Daily assistance in food service to children and supervision during meal times.

Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities

Daily assistance with diapering and/or toilet training while maintaining adequate supervision during bathroom times.
