Reports to: Superintendent Essential Functions: Provides leadership in establishing and implementing the district's vision, philosophy, and goals for teaching and learning in alignment with the district's strategic plan. Leads the development, review, implementation, and continuous improvement of the district's instructional program. Ensures a guaranteed and viable curriculum for every grade level and instructional area, including vertical and horizontal articulation across the district. Ensures district curriculum and instructional programs align with state standards, requirements, and established district learner outcomes. Provides leadership and support to principals, administrators, and instructional staff in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement. Leads systems for the effective use of local, state, and national assessment data to inform instructional practices, evaluate programming, and support continuous improvement. Stays current with research, best practices, and emerging trends in curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, and educational leadership and communicates relevant information to staff. Supervises and directs the work, programs, and initiatives of the Director of Innovation and Technology, the Director of Student Learning, and the DSL Coordinators. Provides leadership and oversight for the district's Multilingual Learner/Bilingual programs and ensures compliance with applicable requirements. Collaborates with district and school leadership to ensure equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities and to identify and address educational inequities. Coordinates the selection, development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional resources and materials across all instructional areas. Leads and supports district and school improvement efforts, including processes associated with state accountability and monitoring requirements. Develops, manages, and monitors state and federal grants and entitlement programs related to teaching and learning, ensuring compliance and supporting long-range planning and revenue forecasting. Coordinates state, federal, and county monitoring activities related to areas of responsibility and ensures required documentation and compliance. Communicates relevant state and federal mandates, requirements, and legislative changes to the Superintendent, Board of Education, administrators, and staff as appropriate. Ensures continuity and articulation of instructional programs across district schools and collaborates with District 214 and other educational partners to support successful student transitions. Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent for Business in developing and monitoring budgets related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, grants, and instructional programming. Plans, implements, and evaluates the district's summer school program. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, and local, county, and state agencies that support students, families, staff, and district programs. Represents the district in local, state, and national organizations, committees, and professional groups as appropriate and in collaboration with the Superintendent. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

    Other Functions: Attends all administrative meetings as appropriate for the purpose of ensuring effective communication between the building and district level teams. Participates in a program of personal professional development related to identified areas of responsibility. Provides general administrative support to the Superintendent of Schools. Performs other related duties, as may be directed by the Superintendent of Schools, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Minimum Qualifications: Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: developing and administering budgets; operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing multiple projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and training, developing and supervising staff. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; dealing with frequent and sustained interruptions; developing and maintaining positive working relationships; facilitating communication between persons with divergent positions; implementing change; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; providing direction and leadership; and setting priorities. Other Qualifications: Successful administrative experience, particularly in the field of curriculum leadership and related areas of staff development, group facilitation, and planning. School principal experience preferred. High levels of effective leadership skills. Possess a commitment to educational excellence and demonstrate the capacity for strong and energetic leadership. Genuine concern for people and a record which clearly demonstrates patterns for strength, trust, open communication, and a high degree of effective personnel interactions. Possess the ability and demonstrate a predisposition to use a collaborative approach to problem solving while still accepting the responsibility for administrative decisions. Demonstrated, well-developed insight into the educational interest of the public(s) to be served. The ability to effectively communicate with staff, parents, community members, and the Board of Education. A high degree of integrity, a strong sense of purpose, and the personal strength to face challenges with humor and courage. Education/Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful administrative experience in a school district setting is preferred. A Master's Degree in Education is required.

    Licenses and Certifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative

    Contract Length: 12-month work calendar
