Overview
The Assistant Superintendent works under the direction of the project team to ensure the successful completion of a timely, cost-effective, safe and quality project. This includes collaborating with the project team to define construction requirements and schedule, examining and inspecting work progress at construction sites to ensure specifications are met, and supervising field-related construction activities for project close-out. Enforces conformance to safety and quality standards, processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for:• Maintaining positive client relationships to leverage future repeat business• Ensuring project site is kept in a clean and orderly state• Determining construction requirements and procedures• Following and promoting established project standards, processes, and procedures• Executing and enforcing safety standards, processes, and procedures• Preparing and executing the project closeout process, demobilizing all resources and successfullytransitioning the project to the client• Overseeing the entire close-out process including creation and completion of punch list• Completing building turnover, existing utility coordination, and AHJ project closeout• May be asked to serve as a mentor to new hires during onboarding• Other duties as assignedThe Assistant Superintendent provides support for:• Identifying new construction products/practices for the projectAssistant Superintendent Role Resource Package 4• Recommending methods, materials and layouts to reduce construction costs based on designneeds/capabilities• Planning all construction operations and timelines to ensure deadlines will be met• Conducting project preconstruction/strategy/premortum meeting• Conducting job start up• Directing, coordinating and monitoring activities of construction workers on a construction site• Facilitating the RFI process• Enforcing safety and quality standards, processes and procedures• Conducting weekly safety inspections• Conducting monthly safety audits• Controlling project scope and budget• Modifying project schedule to reflect approved scope changes• Monitoring project schedules to ensure adherence to key dates• Initiating, reviewing and negotiating change orders• Managing CCD process• Managing contractual requirements and identifying opportunities for improvement• Inspecting work progress and construction sites to ensure specifications are met• Communication of project status• Responding to exceptions report• Maintaining and controlling budgets by communicating with proper PO's/SWD's• Maintaining complete, thorough daily logs that include production and detailed areas of work• Maintaining construction documents• Managing and processing shop drawings and submittals• Identifying compression opportunities• Assisting in mitigation of issues/recovery of critical path
