This position supports the Superintendent in managing and coordinating daily field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with plans and specifications. The Assistant Superintendent plays a key role in workforce coordination, material delivery planning, quality control, and jobsite communication. This role requires the ability to interpret construction documents, support field execution, and collaborate with project teams to maintain project efficiency and organization.
Field Coordination & Execution
Assist the Superintendent in planning and maintaining the project schedule, including coordination of manpower and material deliveries
Interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications to support field operations
Participate in project layout, field engineering, and verification of installed work
Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure alignment with project plans and schedule
Identify and help resolve field issues, escalating as needed
Subcontractor & Workforce Management
Support management and coordination of subcontractors and field workforce
Promote accountability and productivity among trade partners
Assist in maintaining jobsite organization and workflow efficiency
Collaborate with Project Engineers and field staff to ensure proper document flow and execution
Safety & Quality Control
Monitor and enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on the jobsite
Inspect work in place to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards
Identify unacceptable work and assist in corrective action
Scheduling & Reporting
Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules for assigned scopes of work
Track daily progress and maintain accurate daily reports, including manpower, activities, and issues
Support schedule adherence and communicate delays or risks to the Superintendent
Documentation & Project Support
Assist with RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and record drawings in coordination with Project Engineers
Utilize construction technology such as Bluebeam for document review and coordination
Support Lean Construction practices and continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain clear communication with all members of the project team

OSHA 30 Certification
Procore Knowledge and Experience
Read and Interpret Plans and Specs

Microsoft Office Suite Efficiency
Computer knowledge and Efficiency
Qualifications
2–5 years of relevant commercial construction experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred, but not required
Equivalent field experience (e.g., Foreman, Field Engineer) will be considered
Internship experience with a commercial contractor preferred
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure
Self-starter with strong work ethic and leadership potential
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across field and office teams
