Position Summary

UMD Athletics is seeking an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to develop and implement strength and conditioning programs for our Division II variety collegiate teams in a manner compatible with the department and University philosophy, and in compliance with NCAA, Conference and nationally accepted rules and safety regulations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Delivers strength and conditioning services to members of the varsity collegiate teams Including but not limited to: scheduling, designing and administering programming, and serving as a resource for nutritional education. Establish and maintain effective relationships within the athletic department, the University, community, and the public. Represent in a positive fashion the University and its athletic programs in private and public forums. Commit to adhering to all rules and regulations.

  • Design and daily administration of strengthening, stretching, agility/plyometric, speed development and all conditioning exercises to assigned teams in order to obtain desired results.
  • Provide instruction in safe and effective spotting procedures for all lifts to ensure maximum effect of the exercise and the safety of the athlete is maintained
  • Administer and evaluate testing procedures to identify both student-athlete and team strengths and weaknesses
  • Manage and maintain inventory and strength & conditioning infrastructure
  • Establish a good line of communication with coaches of designated teams
  • Performs other duties not specifically stated herein but deemed essential to the operation of the strength & conditioning program as assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
  • Design and daily administer strength, stretching, agility/plyometric, speed development and conditioning exercises and programming.
  • Provide instruction in a safe and effective manner.
  • Manage and maintain inventory, infrastructure and the departments budget.
  • Communicate regularly with all head coaches.
  • Support the UMD Athletics mission of excellence in the Classroom, Community and Competition; while furthering the strategic plan of UMD

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both written and verbally.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete well-being and building an inclusive culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
  • One year experience at the collegiate and/or professional level.
  • MA/MS degree.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $51,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
