Assistant Stockroom Manager Department: Stockroom Reports To: Stockroom Manager Job Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt (Hourly) What We Expect of an Assistant Stockroom Manager We expect our Assistant Stockroom Manager to lead by example through professionalism, dependability, and a strong work ethic while supporting the daily operations of the Stockroom, Shipping & Receiving & Quality Control personal. This role requires a proactive, hands-on individual who maintains inventory accuracy, communicates effectively across departments, promotes a safe and organized work environment, and is committed to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, willing to take on increasing leadership responsibilities, and dedicated to helping ensure the success of both the manufacturing team and Hamrick Packaging Systems. What you will do as an Assistant Stockroom Manager The Assistant Stockroom Manager plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of our Stockroom, Shipping & Receiving , and Quality Control, and manufacturing material flow. This position works closely with the Stockroom Manager to ensure materials, components, and finished goods are received, stored, inventoried, and delivered efficiently to support production. Unlike a traditional warehouse environment, this position supports the manufacturing of custom industrial packaging machinery by assisting with inventory control, shipping, receiving, and coordination between Purchasing, Engineering, Production, Quality Control, and Assembly. The Assistant Stockroom Manager serves as a working leader, helping coordinate daily activities, maintaining inventory accuracy using Global Shop Solutions ERP software, assisting with outbound shipments through UPS WorldShip, and providing leadership and guidance to Stockroom personnel in the absence of the Stockroom Manager. It is critical that this person have basic computer skills. Prior ERP experience is a plus. This position is ideal for someone looking to grow into a management role while gaining valuable leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. What you'll be doing - Assist the Stockroom Manager with the daily operation of the Shipping & Receiving Department.
- Help ensure materials and components are available to meet production schedules.
- Review production orders and parts requirements and communicate shortages to the Stockroom Manager.
- Receive incoming materials and verify accuracy against purchase orders.
- Assist with inspecting, organizing, and storing incoming materials.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Quality Control regarding damaged or nonconforming materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory throughout the stockroom, manufacturing floor, and designated storage locations.
- Perform cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliations.
- Process inventory transactions accurately within the ERP system.
- Prepare, package, and coordinate shipments of completed equipment, replacement parts, and customer orders.
- Deliver materials to production departments to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe stockroom.
- Assist in training and supporting Stockroom Associates.
- Serve as backup for the Stockroom Manager during absences or as assigned.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and departmental efficiency.
Our Assistant Stockroom Manager should have - A high school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, shipping & receiving, or inventory control environment.
- Experience using ERP software is preferred; Global Shop Solutions experience is a plus, but training will be provided.
- Experience with UPS WorldShip or similar shipping software is preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of inventory control principles.
- Ability to read manufacturing drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and technical documentation is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring coworkers is preferred.
