SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY

The Soccer Coach is responsible for all coaching-related activities, developing and sustaining a successful program with a strong emphasis on skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, developing character, and a high degree of discipline.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and sustain a successful soccer program
  • Develop and implement training programs and practice schedules
  • Study the skills and abilities of each student-athlete and put them in position to be successful
  • Recognize and use each student-athletes specific talents to devise plays and playing strategies for games
  • Consult with the Athletic Director regarding any offseason training programs
  • Hold parent informational meetings at the beginning of each season
  • Create a safe environment conducive to learning and physical, social, and emotional development
  • Purchase order requests for program uniforms, supplies, and equipment
  • Work directly with the Athletics Director to schedule contests
  • Travel with student-athletes and team personnel on the team bus
  • Maintain necessary records and complete required paperwork
  • Enforce discipline policies and emphasize sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles
  • Supervise student-athletes in locker rooms
  • Ensure the rules and regulations of conduct and eligibility of student-athletes are effectively communicated and followed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree with an emphasis in education preferred
  • At least three years of prior successful high school coaching experience with prior head coaching experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules concerning the sport of soccer
  • IHSAA and NFHS Coaching Certification preferred (can be completed after hire)
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Ability to motivate, teach, and recruit qualified student-athletes
  • Ability to foster positive human relationships and work effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community
  • Ability to make quick decisions under pressure
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and keep tempers in check
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments
  • Ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds, focusing on resolving conflict, listening to others without interruptions, remaining open to others ideas, and contributing to building a positive team spirit and environment
