    Description

    Assistant Site Coordinator

    We are seeking staff for our Expanded Learning Program. The hours immediately after school can be hugely impactful for kids, and our ELP staff provide meaningful enrichment programs to strengthen their academic, physical, and social-emotional growth. Successful team members are able to increase family engagement to support student learning, and bridge the communication between the school day and afterschool for families. POSITION SUMMARY: These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. The Assistant Site Coordinator works closely with the Site Coordinator to ensure the proper supervision of children and is responsible for planning and implementing a variety of recreational and educational activities which supports the children's learning and promotes self-esteem in small group settings. This person shares with the Site Coordinator the responsibility for opening and/or closing the Program; assists with all attendance and data collection, supervises other staff in the absence of the Site Coordinator. In the absence of the Site Coordinator, the Assistant Site Coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation of the after school program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Assist the Site Coordinator in developing and implementing a creative program and age appropriate activities in accordance to YMCA philosophies.
    2. Responsible for the operation of the program in the absence of the Site Coordinator.
    3. Maintain supervision and interacts with assigned group/area at all times.
    4. Maintains accurate attendance records in compliance with the district regulations, compile forms, records and files requested by Site Coordinator or Program Director.
    5. Maintain group behavioral limits following established Program standards.
    6. Comply with all safety guidelines.
    7. Attend and actively participate in trainings offered by YMCA and other organizations.
    8. Assist in preparation and serving snacks.
    9. Assist in planning monthly activity calendar and staff trainings.
    10. Maintain a positive and healthy relationship with parents of participants.
    11. Lead with a positive example in conduct and communication, maintaining a physically, emotionally and socially healthy environment for participants.
    12. Assist in maintenance of a clean and orderly program areas.
    13. Confer immediately with supervisor concerning suspected child abuse and follows mandated reporting procedures.
    14. Other duties as assigned.

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities. Must occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Frequent bending & standing. Able to walk for long periods of time. Visual ability to clearly monitor activities in both indoor and outdoor settings. Mobility to quickly respond to emergencies.

    • High school graduate or GED; AA in early childhood development preferred
    • Coursework to meet State of California licensing standards
    • 2 years of previous experience working in a professional child care or school aged program
    • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job
    • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date
