Assistant Retail Delivery Manager

Reports To: Retail Delivery Operations Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides direct supervisory oversight for delivery operations staff as assigned, including:

  • Delivery Dispatch & Routing Coordinator(s)
  • Home Delivery Drivers

Supervisory responsibilities include day-to-day oversight, scheduling, training support, performance monitoring, and implementation of corrective actions as directed by the Retail Delivery Operations Manager and in accordance with company policy and applicable law.

Final authority for hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions remains with the Retail Delivery Operations Manager.

Reporting Structure and Functional Alignment

Organizational Retail Reporting Line:

Retail Delivery Operations Manager > Regional Director of Retail > Vice President of Growth

The Assistant Retail Delivery Manager operates in a cross-functional environment and works closely with Retail, Inventory, Compliance, and Fleet teams to support efficient and compliant delivery operations. Cross-functional collaboration does not alter formal reporting relationships.

Position Summary

The Assistant Retail Delivery Manager supports the Retail Delivery Operations Manager in overseeing daily cannabis home delivery operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant execution of customer orders. This role focuses on operational execution, team support, and performance monitoring across dispatch, routing, and delivery activities.

The Assistant Retail Delivery Manager assists in coordinating order fulfillment, managing driver performance, ensuring compliance with delivery regulations, and maintaining operational standards. This position is responsible for supporting continuous improvement efforts and ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Order Fulfillment and Logistics

  • Support oversight of the end-to-end home delivery fulfillment process to ensure accurate and timely execution of customer orders.
  • Coordinate with Inventory and Warehouse teams to ensure product availability and proper handling procedures.
  • Monitor delivery performance metrics, including order accuracy, fulfillment speed, and customer satisfaction, and report findings to leadership.

Dispatch and Routing Execution

  • Execute established routing and dispatch strategies to support delivery efficiency and timely service.
  • Utilize dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and routing tools to manage driver assignments and real-time adjustments.
  • Ensure delivery routes, manifests, and system entries are accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Driver Oversight and Compliance Support

  • Assist in training, onboarding, and supervising delivery drivers and dispatch personnel in accordance with company standards.
  • Monitor day-to-day driver performance and provide coaching, feedback, and performance documentation.
  • Support development and maintenance of driver schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Ensure all required delivery documentation is completed, executed, and retained, including signed manifests and transaction records.
  • Verify that drivers maintain required licenses, insurance, permits, and eligibility standards in accordance with company policy.

Operational Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Support compliance with all applicable cannabis delivery regulations, security protocols, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, risks, or issues and escalate to the Retail Delivery Operations Manager.
  • Collaborate with Fleet Management teams regarding vehicle availability, maintenance needs, and operational readiness.
  • Assist in the implementation of process improvements to enhance delivery performance and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

All delivery operations, dispatch activities, routing execution, documentation, and driver support functions are performed in accordance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory expectations.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position operates in environments where cannabis products are present and may include exposure to marijuana odor and plant-related airborne particles.

Physical activities may include standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, twisting, and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 40 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance). Regular computer and keyboard use is required.

Schedule and Work Hours

This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and coverage during operational needs or emergencies as required. Travel between company locations may be required.

Technology and Equipment Requirements

This position requires the use of company-approved technology and systems, including dispatch, routing, compliance, and fleet management applications. Use of a company-approved or personal cellular device may be required in accordance with company policy, including systems such as Samsara and OnFleet.

Compliance and Continuing Eligibility

Employment is contingent upon ongoing compliance with cannabis regulations, company policies, and maintenance of all required licenses, permits, work cards, certifications, and driving eligibility, including OSHA training requirements. Loss of eligibility may affect continued employment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Marijuana Establishment Agent Registration Card and any required local or jurisdictional work cards.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Driving history must meet company and insurance carrier standards.
  • Previous experience in logistics, delivery operations, or regulated retail operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software, dispatch/routing tools, point-of-sale systems, and standard office applications.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid OSHA 10 certification (or higher) as a condition of employment.
