    Passionate About Super-Resolution Microscopy? Join us at the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine at Texas A&M University

    An Assistant Research Scientist is sought to provide research support for the Joint Microscopy Laboratory (JML), a Texas A&M University shared resource facility. Dr. Musser is the Director of the JML.

    This position will primarily require collecting data on a recently acquired MINFLUX 3D microscope and assisting users with experimental design, sample preparation, and basic data analysis. Occasional assistance with a fluorescence lifetime capable confocal microscope (Luminosa) will also be required.

    What sets you apart:

    • Experience with super-resolution imaging and single molecule fluorescence methods is highly desirable as is direct experience with MINFLUX data acquisition

    • An interest in method optimization and the development of novel strategies

    • Demonstrated ability to interface with a wide range of scientists with different expertise levels and with the proactive and service-oriented demeanor necessary for engaging with users to generate meaningful and impactful results.

    The ideal candidate will be organized, be highly motivated, pay attention to detail, and be able to work independently.

    What you need to know

    Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience .

    Required Education and Experience:

    • PhD in relevant field

    • Some relevant professional experience in light microscopy.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Three years of light microscopy experience

    • Expertise with MINFLUX Microscopy

    • Experience with super-resolution imaging and/or single molecule fluorescence microscopy

    • A strong background and training in quantitative biology

    • Experience and/or interest particle tracking and image analysis

    • PhD emphasis ranging from physics to cell biology.

    • A strong skillset/background in biochemical and biophysical methods and approaches

    • Comfortable working with a range of programming, computational, and analysis tools

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others on a range of scientific projects

    • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
