About the role
The Assistant Registrar, Exhibitions and Loans will support the museum’s loan and exhibition programming and is part of the Registration and Collections Management team.  The role is focused on all logistics involved in borrowing and lending works of art.  
Responsibilities
  • Manage logistics related to incoming and outgoing loans, including shipping, packing, insurance, and condition reporting
  • Prepare and track loan agreements, condition reports, and all documentation as needed
  • Communicate with lenders and borrowers in addition to internal colleagues regarding exhibition and loans
  • Track expenses, assist with budgets, and manage timelines and approvals
  • Support exhibition and loan registration team as assigned
  • Manage outward loan insurance valuation process
  • Help with shipment handling, file archiving, and day-to-day registrar duties
  • Travel on occasion with exhibitions and loans
Qualifications
  • BA (Art History, Arts Administration, Museum Studies, or closely related field)
  • 3 years of experience working in the museum registration field
  • Strong understanding of museum registration methods, standards of practice, polices and procedures related to loans, art handling, fine arts shipping, and insurance
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and thorough record keeping
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience with collections databases (TMS preferred)

Salary: $55,125
Union status: Union - DC37 Local 1502
FLSA status: Non-Exempt
Position type: Full-time
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm
