Assistant Property Manager – Public Housing

We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team in Akron, Ohio, as an Assistant Property Manager for Public Housing. This role offers a great opportunity for someone with property management and clerical experience to support the smooth operation of housing developments.

This position is with a large housing management organization committed to providing quality housing and excellent tenant service. As an Assistant Property Manager, you will work closely with the Property or Housing Manager to oversee daily activities such as record keeping, leasing, rent collection, tenant relations, and inspections. Your efforts will help ensure compliance with housing policies and foster positive community relationships. Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–4:30PM

Pay: $20.00+/hour, based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing leasing activities, unit turnover, and rent collection
• Enforce lease agreements and promote positive resident relations
• Respond to inquiries from tenants and the public in accordance with policies and procedures
• Perform routine bookkeeping and clerical tasks under the direction of the Housing Manager
• Maintain and create records for leases, billing, and delinquent accounts
• Keep tenant ledgers updated and perform calculations to verify balances and track costs
• Type eviction notices and other tenant communications
• Maintain and report on account records and occupancy data
• Post vacancy data and assist in maintaining occupancy rates
• Prepare payroll and verify confidential information as needed
• Enter data and generate reports to support property management activities

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• At least 1 year of clerical and basic bookkeeping experience
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and office equipment
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs
• Strong customer service skills
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License and insurability

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with public housing management
• Knowledge of HUD regulations, fair housing laws, and landlord/tenant laws
• Familiarity with property management best practices

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or higher
• Previous experience in property or housing management (preferred)

Other Requirements:

• On-site work; ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–4:30PM
• Physical ability to perform clerical work as required
