Assistant Project Specialist – Project Cost Management

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Project Specialist to support Project Managers with project cost management and financial administration. This position will assist with setting up new projects, updating project financials throughout the project lifecycle, closing out projects, and resolving project-related financial questions.
The ideal candidate will have a background in business, accounting, finance, construction management, or a related field, along with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience with project financials or cost management systems is preferred, but training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with project setup, financial updates, and project closeout.
- Maintain accurate project financial information within internal systems.
- Research and resolve project financial and system-related questions.
- Assist with tracking project sales, revenue, costs, profitability, and labor.
- Support Project Managers with project financial reporting and updates.
- Learn and independently navigate internal cost management systems and processes.
- Identify discrepancies or issues and work toward appropriate solutions.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers and internal teams.
- Perform additional administrative duties and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Communications, Construction Management, or related field required; OR Associate degree with 2+ years of related experience; OR High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of related experience.
- Experience with project financials, cost management, accounting, or financial systems preferred.
- Understanding of sales, revenue, profitability, labor costs, and financial reporting is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Self-starter with the ability to learn independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively in a corporate environment
