Location/Work Arrangement: Westfield, MA with frequent local field travel
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Pay: $26.44–$28.85/hour
Position Overview
A growing construction and environmental services company in Westfield, MA is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support its Senior Estimator/Project Manager with commercial and residential projects. This is a newly created position due to company growth and offers a combination of office-based project support and hands-on field responsibilities.
The company specializes in asbestos-related work, demolition, and construction projects, completing work at schools, colleges, police stations, commercial properties, and residential sites. They have been around for about 6 years and started in the owner's garage, growing into just over $1m in revenue!
Responsibilities- Assist the Senior Estimator/Project Manager with construction and demolition projects.
- Review and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Assist with project takeoffs, submittals, documentation, and estimating support.
- Conduct job-site walkthroughs to review project scope and work requirements.
- Visit active job sites approximately 2–3 times per week, with more than 50% of the role involving field-related responsibilities.
- Communicate project requirements and scope of work to field crews.
- Coordinate between project management and field employees to help keep projects on track.
- Maintain and organize project documentation using SharePoint.
- Assist with general project administration and occasional incoming phone calls.
- Travel locally to project sites; a company vehicle will be provided when needed.
- Travel is about a 45-minute to 1 hour radius. From Westfield, they go as far East as Worcester, far West as Pittsfield, and as far South as Manchester, CT.
Qualifications- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in construction, project coordination, estimating, or a related field.
- Construction industry experience preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Experience conducting job site visits or walkthroughs.
- Experience with project submittals and takeoffs preferred.
- Comfortable working both in an office and at active construction/demolition sites.
- Strong communication, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- Comfortable using or learning SharePoint and other project/document management systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
