Assistant Project Manager – Construction
Location: Alameda, CA
Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience

Field Talent is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support a large-scale construction project in Alameda, California. This position will work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors, consultants, and ownership to help deliver the project safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the management and execution of the prime contract
  • Support preconstruction, estimating, plan reviews, and value-engineering efforts
  • Develop subcontractor scopes and assist with the subcontracting process
  • Review subcontractor and owner change orders for accuracy, scope, and cost
  • Help manage project schedules, milestones, and three-week look-ahead schedules
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent to resolve field and scheduling concerns
  • Participate in weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Assist with jobsite setup and compliance with state and local requirements
  • Review daily field reports and confirm timely completion
  • Track delays and assist with change-order requests
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and related cost or schedule impacts
  • Build strong working relationships with inspectors, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and ownership
  • Assist with OAC meetings and follow up on action items
  • Review monthly pay applications and coordinate with accounting
  • Support project staff and ensure procedures are followed
  • Coordinate material procurement to maintain the construction schedule
  • Promote jobsite safety, organization, and cleanliness
Qualifications
  • At least two years of construction project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines
  • Experience reviewing construction contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and pay applications
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Working knowledge of Procore, PlanGrid, and other construction management software
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of project safety programs and jobsite compliance
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work outdoors and in changing weather conditions
  • Availability to work additional hours when required by project deadlines
Jobsite Requirements
This is a jobsite-based position in Alameda. Required personal protective equipment must be worn while on-site. PPE may include a hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, work boots, gloves, and any additional equipment required by the project.
