Description

Talon Hiring Solutions has a client that is looking for an Assistant Project Manager. You will be working with the on-site project team, working closely with the Project Manager to support day-to-day construction activities. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn how projects are planned, managed, built, and successfully closed out, while developing the skills needed to advance into an Assistant Project Manager II and eventually a Project Manager role.

Note: *Travel & Job Site Requirements*

  • Travel and relocation are required. APM Is may be assigned to projects anywhere in the lower 48 states and may relocate as project assignments change.
  • Work will be split between the office and active construction job sites.

What you will do:

  • Support the Project Manager with daily project coordination and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate project files, daily logs, meeting minutes, RFI and submittal logs, and other project records.
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, change order documentation, and project closeout.
  • Help maintain safety records, inspections, toolbox talks, training logs, and monthly safety reports.
  • Review routine project documents and flag discrepancies involving drawings, quantities, deliveries, or other project information.
  • Communicate professionally with owners, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members.
  • Track assigned tasks, provide status updates, and follow through on commitments.
  • Help keep project information organized and up to date in company systems.
  • Learn and apply construction terminology, company procedures, and project management best practices.
  • Use Microsoft Office and construction/project management software to accurately enter and manage information.
  • Participate in project meetings, training, and other opportunities to develop your construction knowledge.
  • Work both in the office and on active construction job sites as project assignments require.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Science, or a related field, completed or expected within 6 months.
  • 0–2 years of construction experience, including internships, co-ops, or field experience.
  • Basic ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, and follow-through.
  • Ability to learn quickly, ask questions, and work effectively under the direction of a Project Manager.
  • Professional and collaborative approach when working with project teams and external partners.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Primavera P6, or similar construction software.
  • General contractor internship or field experience.
  • Exposure to RFIs, submittals, daily reports, estimating, or other project documentation.
