The long-term goal is to develop this individual into a Project Manager capable of independently managing projects with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will have the initiative to take ownership, communicate effectively with project stakeholders, and continuously develop their construction knowledge.
Description
The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for:
- Assist with estimating and preparation of project costs, including identifying potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
- Support project budget preparation and help monitor financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with the development and management of project schedules, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Support job costing and cost tracking in coordination with accounting and office staff.
- Review plans, specifications, and construction documents to understand design intent, scope, and project requirements.
- Coordinate information between clients, architects, designers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Manage and organize project documentation, RFIs, submittals, correspondence, and other critical project information.
- Assist with overseeing the On-Site Construction Manager and ensuring work is progressing according to project requirements.
- Support quality control efforts and ensure construction meets company standards and project specifications.
- Help identify and resolve project issues while maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders.
- Participate in and eventually lead project meetings, ensuring priorities, responsibilities, and next steps are clearly communicated.
- Take increasing ownership of project responsibilities with the goal of progressing into a Project Manager role.
Profile
The Successful Assistant Project Manager will ideally have:
- Experience in commercial or construction project management preferred.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and proactive with the ability to work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, architects, and internal teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Integrity and accountability are essential.
- Comfortable taking direction while also being willing to take initiative and lead.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Project, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with Procore preferred.
- Ability and willingness to learn SAGE Contractor 100 accounting software.
- Valid Massachusetts Driver's License required.
