Assistant Project Manager - Civil - Leesburg, VA

The Assistant Project Manager - Civil - Leesburg, VA will be responsible for:

  • Managing all phases of small construction projects valued up to approximately $4M or support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Tracking and maintaining project controls including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, schedules, quality, safety, and closeout activities.
  • Coordinating with technical experts to review, process, and manage construction submittals and shop drawings.
  • Supporting and managing change management activities, including pricing, estimating, proposals, and contract modifications.
  • Performing quantity takeoffs and quantity surveys using digital and traditional estimating tools.
  • Developing, maintaining, and communicating project schedules using industry-standard scheduling software.
  • Coordinating project layouts, field measurements, and spatial relationships to ensure successful project execution.
  • Assisting with contract, subcontract, and purchase order negotiations.
  • Generating and maintaining project reports using internal and client-specific project management systems.
  • Identifying project risks early and proactively implement solutions to prevent delays and cost impacts.
  • Ensuring all work complies with contract requirements, project specifications, legal obligations, and safety standards.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with 2-3 years of experience for a commercial or industrial general contractor; or 5 years of directly related construction experience without a degree.
  • Civil project management experience with a civil general contractor or subcontractor.
  • Experience managing or supporting self-performed construction activities and subcontracted work.
  • Understanding of construction means and methods related to commercial and institutional building renovations and associated site work.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, email platforms, and construction industry software.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
