Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager will:

  • Manage all phases of small construction projects valued up to approximately $4M or support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Track and maintain project controls including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, schedules, quality, safety, and closeout activities.
  • Coordinate with technical experts to review, process, and manage construction submittals and shop drawings.
  • Support and manage change management activities, including pricing, estimating, proposals, and contract modifications.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and quantity surveys using digital and traditional estimating tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules using industry-standard scheduling software.
  • Coordinate project layouts, field measurements, and spatial relationships to ensure successful project execution.
  • Assist with contract, subcontract, and purchase order negotiations.
  • Generate and maintain project reports using internal and client-specific project management systems.
  • Identify project risks early and proactively implement solutions to prevent delays and cost impacts.
  • Ensure all work complies with contract requirements, project specifications, legal obligations, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with accounting, HR, operations, and other internal stakeholders to support project success.
  • Participate in project closeout activities to ensure timely and successful completion.
  • Assist with constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives to improve project outcomes.
  • Attend staff meetings, industry networking events, and professional development opportunities.

A successful Assistant Project Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with 2-3 years of experience for a commercial or industrial general contractor; or 5 years of directly related construction experience without a degree.
  • Civil estimating and contracting experience with a civil general contractor or subcontractor.
  • Experience managing or supporting self-performed construction activities and subcontracted work.
  • Understanding of construction means and methods related to commercial and institutional building renovations and associated site work.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, email platforms, and construction industry software.
  • Ability to travel to project sites within the designated geographic area.
  • Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk active job sites, climb ladders and stairs, conduct inspections, and support field operations.
  • Clean driving record.
