Job Description

Seeking a Layout Field Engineer - Civil Construction - Columbia with a strong background in civil construction. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field layout and staking for earthwork, utilities, and structures using total stations and GPS/GNSS equipment.
  • Establish and maintain control points and benchmarks; verify accuracy throughout the project.
  • Conduct as-built surveys and provide updated drawings or reports to project teams.
  • Import and manage CAD files and point data for layout and machine control.
  • Set up and troubleshoot GPS/RTK systems, including base stations and rovers.
  • Coordinate with superintendents and crews to ensure layout aligns with design and schedule.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of layout activities, stake reports, and as-built data.
  • Follow all safety procedures and quality standards during field operations.

The Successful Applicant

The Layout Field Engineer - Civil Construction - Columbia should have:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-4+ years of experience in construction layout or field engineering.
  • Proficiency with total stations and GPS/GNSS equipment highlight preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans and drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
